Training Seminar in Financial Management and Neuro-Finance organized by Ajman Chamber of Commerce & Industry

Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the College of Business Administration at Ajman University of Science & Technology (AUST) organized a training seminar regarding the importance of Financial Management to SMEs in the United Arab Emirates and the applications of Neuro-Finance in decision making. The seminar took place on Thursday, December 11, 2014 in Ajman Chamber’s premises and was facilitated by Dr. Mohammed Naim Chaker, Associate Professor and Head of AUST Department of Finance and Dr. Mohd Khoshnevisan, Associate Professor of Finance in AUST College of Business Administration. The seminar received a warm welcome by all participants and His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Muwajai, Chairman of Ajman Chamber.

 

The training seminar aimed essentially at introducing the importance and growth of SMEs in the UAE, the fundamentals of financial management, the process of financial decision making, and Neuro-Finance. The first part of the seminar was delivered by Dr. Chaker who addressed the goals and functions of financial management, financial ratios analysis and forecasting, working capital and current assets management practices, time value of money, and small business risk management policies applicable in the UAE. In the second part, Dr. Khoshnevisan addressed some of the challenging aspects of neural activation and hemodynamic responses of the brain and the potential applications of Neuro-Finance and Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) in forecasting, and possible financial immunization in the future.
